  •       Satavahana dominated the Deccan region from 1st Century BCE to 3rd centure CE
  •          Gautamiputra Satakarni and Vasisthputra Pulumavi
  •          It comprises present day Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra
  •          Capital: Amaravati, Pratishthana and Junnar
  •          The Satavahanas were early issuers of Indian State coinage struck with images of their rulers
  •          Patronized Prakrit language instead of Sanskrit
  •          They supported Buddhism as well as Brahmanism
  •          The Periplus of the Eythraean Sea mentions two important Satavahan trade centres: Pratishthana and Tagara, other urban centers: Kondapur, Banavasi and Madhavpur
