- Satavahana dominated the Deccan region from 1st Century BCE to 3rd centure CE
- Gautamiputra Satakarni and Vasisthputra Pulumavi
- It comprises present day Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra
- Capital: Amaravati, Pratishthana and Junnar
- The Satavahanas were early issuers of Indian State coinage struck with images of their rulers
- Patronized Prakrit language instead of Sanskrit
